Louise Morby


Louise is a distinguished professional with over two decades of experience in sport development. Her career reflects a deep-seated commitment to leveraging sport as a catalyst for positive societal change, demonstrated through her multifaceted roles across various sectors within the sports industry. 

With a solid foundation in managing community recreation programmes for local authorities and providing sports counselling, Louise has acquired a diverse skill set that encompasses facility management, National Governing Body work, and strategic leadership for Active Partnerships. 

Transitioning to academia in 2009, Louise brings a unique blend of practical expertise and scholarly rigor to her role as a senior lecturer at Leeds Beckett University. Her contributions to the BA (Hons) Sport Development degree and MA Sport Development and Management underscore her dedication to nurturing the next generation of sports leaders. Moreover, her research pursuits, which focus on advanced leadership, policy development and implementation, and promoting equity in sport, align closely with the strategic priorities of a regional Netball management board. 

Louise remains deeply entrenched in the practical realm of sport development. Her ongoing involvement with the Yorkshire Netball Regional Management Board and co-chairing of the UK Sport Development Network attest to her unwavering dedication to advancing the sport at both regional and national levels. 

As a qualified level 2 Netball coach and gym instructor, Louise has invested considerable time and effort into nurturing grassroots talent and fostering a culture of inclusivity within the Netball community. Notably, Louise's contributions extend beyond her professional endeavours. She played a pivotal role in founding the West Yorkshire Junior Netball League and co-founded the Huddersfield Giants Netball club. 

With her extensive experience, academic expertise, and hands-on involvement in Netball development initiatives, her strategic vision, collaborative approach, and unwavering dedication to the sport make her an invaluable asset to the board and the broader Netball community.
